The Faruk Yalçın Zoo and Botanical Park was founded in 1993 in Darıca, Kocaeli, as Türkiye's first private zoo and was a member of EAZA. According to press reports in January 2026, the park has closed to visitors completely and the animals have been moved to zoos in other provinces.
