Built between 1843 and 1853 on the orders of Sultan Abdülmecid by Garabet and Nigoğayos Balyan of the Balyan family. The palace has 285 rooms and 46 halls, and Atatürk died here on 10 November 1938. Today it is run as a museum by the Directorate of National Palaces.
The Dolmabahçe Clock Tower was built between 1890 and 1895 by the palace architect Sarkis Balyan on the orders of Sultan Abdülhamid II. The 27-metre tower can be visited together with the gardens in front of Dolmabahçe Palace and the Bosphorus shore.
The Istanbul Naval Museum, near the Beşiktaş pier, was founded in 1897 by the Minister of the Navy, Bozcaadalı Hasan Hüsnü Pasha. Its new building, opened in 2013, displays artefacts from Ottoman maritime history, a banner belonging to Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha and the Historic Galley from the 16th–17th century.

As the programme is mostly indoors in museums, it can be done all year round; still, spring and autumn in Istanbul are mild while winter is cool and rainy, so the spring months are more comfortable for the outdoor sections.
A short but effective trip for classes studying the history of the Republic and Atatürk. It is planned so that students can be back in class in the afternoon.
The sections open to visitors and the visiting rules depend on the palace administration's arrangements on that date. Current information is given in the quote.
