Arrival
The Istanbul branch of the Madame Tussauds chain of wax museums opened in 2016 and closed permanently on 1 January 2025.
İstiklal Avenue is a pedestrian street about 1.4 km long in Beyoğlu, running between Taksim Square and Tünel; in Ottoman times it was known as the Grande Rue de Péra. Along the avenue you can see the nostalgic tram, the Church of St Anthony of Padua, Galatasaray High School and the Çiçek Pasajı (Flower Passage).
Built by the Genoese in 1348, the tower is about 62.6 metres high. Over its history it has served as a watchtower, a dungeon and a fire lookout tower. Opened as a museum in 2020, it offers wide views from its observation terrace over Istanbul's historic peninsula and the Bosphorus.

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are mild in Istanbul and suit city tours with plenty of walking; summer is hot and humid, while winter is cool and wet.
A chance to meet well-known figures for history and culture lessons. Thanks to its short length, it also fits into a weekday school day.
Since the format of the tower visit and capacity arrangements can change depending on the date, this is confirmed in the quote.
