Made up of a group of madrasas and a mosque, the Registan is the heart of Samarkand, which enjoyed its golden age under Timur in the 14th and 15th centuries. Samarkand was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001.

  • Gur-e Amir and Shah-i-Zinda

The Gur-e Amir is the monument complex containing Timur's mausoleum; Shah-i-Zinda is a group of buildings made up of mosques, madrasas and mausoleums. Together with the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, both are counted among the main components of Samarkand on the UNESCO list.

  • Historic Centre of Bukhara

Bukhara, on the Silk Road, is more than 2,000 years old; the 10th-century Ismail Samani Mausoleum is regarded as a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. The Kalyan Minaret, built in the 11th century under the Karakhanids, stands out for its brick decoration; the city was added to the UNESCO list in 1993.

  • Tashkent

The capital of Uzbekistan and the gateway where direct flights from Istanbul land. Tour programmes include a short introductory tour of the Hazrati Imam (Hast Imam) complex in the old city and the city centre.
