Türkiye's Ski Resorts Compared: Which One Suits You?

Which ski resort suits you depends on how much time you have, how you want to travel and what you are looking for besides skiing. For a short break, Uludağ and Kartepe near Istanbul and Kartalkaya, reached by coach, stand out; for dry snow and a longer holiday, Palandöken, Erciyes and Sarıkamış, reached by plane; and for an experience abroad, Gudauri and Bansko. Below we describe each resort briefly using the same criteria.
The criteria we used for the comparison
- Getting there: how do you get there from Istanbul, and how long does it take?
- Snow and climate: general trends (the amount of snow varies each year with the weather).
- Who it suits: level and type of group.
- Beyond skiing: options for non-skiers or for anyone who wants a day off.
We don't include figures that can change every season, such as piste length or the number of facilities; we recommend following each resort's own announcements for up-to-date information.
